The Asgard Project is a ground breaking film which follows top climber Leo Houlding's ambitious expedition to make the first free ascent of Mt Asgard's daunting north face - regarded as one of the most difficult big walls in the world.

The film will follow Leo, Carlos & Stanley as they gain the fitness and confidence required for this epic adventure by making a series of training climbs and jumps at some of the most spectacular climbing areas in the world. Along the way different climbing styles will be introduced and explained. All expertly directed and captured by the climbing film maker Alastair Lee.

A story of extreme climbing always rounds a bit like a fairy tale. As the altitude grows and the dificultéis pile up, the eyes of the listeners open wider and wider. Some of them accept the account at face-value, others refuse to relieve it, assuming the story-teler is telling stories. Extreme feats are part of sports climbing, a type of climbing reserved exclusively for the best.

Alberto Iñurrategi, Juan Vallejo and Mikel Zabala, members of the 2010 Naturgas Broad Peak expedition, have opted for the alpine style on the high peaks of the Himalayas. It took them six hours to cover 200 meters. They were afraid that the snow would drag them down to the void. They discussed the possibility of giving up. "It was like suffering an ambush. To go on or to climb back down, both possibilities were equally dangerous. We were condemned to fight on."  There is an unambiguous term in the world of mountaineering that defines this situation: commitment, the true grandeur of mountain climbing.
