Zigor Egia (EMF-FVM vice president), Jabier Baraiazarra (Mendi Film president and director) and Ricardo Hernani (EMF-FVM president)

Bilbao, October 24, 2025. The Basque Mountain Federation (EMF-FVM) and the Mendi Film Festival Association will continue to work together for the next four years. Meeting in Bilbao, the current leaders of both organizations, Ricardo Hernani and Zigor Egia (president and vice president of EMF-FVM), and Jabier Baraiazarra (president and director of Mendi Film), have signed the agreement that unites them.

EMF-FVM and Mendi Film have collaborated closely over the past four years, since Zigor Egia took over as president of the federation in 2022. This collaboration has resulted in the organization of the festival and the publication of the federation magazine Pyrenaica, as well as the social media platforms where both organizations share their news and activities.

The EMF-FVM is making a financial contribution and is committed to providing non-material support to Mendi Film, considering it of special interest to mountaineering in the Basque Country. The EMF-FVM, for its part, is an association that brings together more than 41,000 people, practically 2% of the total population of the Basque Country.

Mendi Film will offer EMF-FVM members a 10% discount on tickets to the Opening Ceremony of the 18th edition of the festival, which will be held on Saturday, December 6, in the main auditorium of Euskalduna Bilbao. The federation's board of directors will participate in screenings and events organized by Mendi Film during the festival.

The good rapport between both boards goes beyond the collaboration now being signed. In 2024, the centenary year of the founding of the Basque-Navarre Mountaineering Federation, the Basque and Navarrese federations jointly received the WOP Mendi Film Award in recognition of their invaluable contribution to promoting mountain culture.
